Good news! As of January 1, 2023, you may be eligible for Medicaid — even if you have a higher income and are on Medicare. Income eligibility limits have increased for people with Medicaid who are also on Medicare.

Who qualifies for Medicaid?

Local District of Social Services

If you receive Medicaid through the Local District of Social Services (or New York City Human Resources Administration, in New York City):

Individuals can earn up to
$1,677 per month*

Couples can earn up to
$2,268 per month*

If you receive Medicaid assistance through the Marketplace program:

Individuals can earn up to
$2,127 per month*

Couples can earn up to
$2,874 per month*

Marketplace for Children

If you receive Medicaid assistance through the Marketplace for children:

Family of two can earn up to
$6,574 per month*

Family of four can earn up to
$10,000 per month*

(*) Higher income can still enroll onto NY Medicaid with a spend-down or Pooled Income Trust.

Who is eligible for New York’s Medicaid?

To be eligible for Medicaid in New York, you must be:

 

  • A resident of New York State
  • Earning a low income

 

Pregnant women, children, and people with disabilities may qualify for Medicaid at higher income levels.

Managed Care Organization (MCO)

This is a health insurance plan or health care system that coordinates the health care of its members.
